Final meeting: August 1834
The earliest record of a meeting at the Scottish border town of Coldstream, near Berwick on Tweed, was on Wednesday 3rd August 1814 when a 2 race card saw Spitfire win the Hunting Saddle for Mr Crammond at the main expense of Mr McDougal and Mr A Young. However, in the feature Silver Cup Mr Crammond, from Norham, had to settle for second place behind a mare owned by Mr McDougal from Birgham, while Mr A Young’s Arabian horse and Mr Dickson’s mare completed the field in third and fourth places. Although races continued intermittently for the next 20 years, the final record of a meeting was in August 1834 when races were administered by the Galewood Hounds.
